Derek Deane's Swan Lake (last night at the Liverpool Empire)

by Footlights Team on November 22, 2018

The Footlights team had a trip to the Liverpool Empire last night to see ENBs Swan Lake (again - we always go to the ballet !!!). What a production ! It was magnificent. The sets, the costumes, the orchestra and of course, the dancers. Absolutely fantastic. We LOVED it. Magical ending (its always different so its always exciting waiting to see what happens) - think we may go again before it finishes.  Having quite recently learned the cygnet section in my adult ballet class , I was actually dancing the steps while sitting there - the woman next to me probably thought I was slightly insane LOL.

Swan Lake is always a favourite of course. The music is so emotional and the story so romantic. But some productions are definitely better than others. And this one is GOOD. If you get chance to see it, get yourself down there.

Only down side - £13 for 2 drinks. REALLY - Empire - you need to rethink this pricing. The wine was terrible anyway - so that's enough to put people off the theatre - and we don't want that !!

By the way, if you haven't heard, the Footlights Theatre Club is launching in the new year.  We'll be having a monthly meeting in a local cafe to watch a film (musical, ballet, whatever), with guest speakers (play directors, choreographers etc) and of course, trips to the theatre with like minded buddies. We'll also be arranging extra special treats like backstage tours, meet the cast etc. Numbers will be limited so get in touch to join now if you are interested.
